What is a Mother's Blessing? I hear you cry!

​

The idea of a Mother's Blessing is the westernised version of a Blessingway, which is Navajo Native American Indian ceremony marking a woman's rite of passage into motherhood and is considered to be a highly spiritual, sacred and private event. It is my understanding that the Navajo people do not approve of the name being used in our westernised way, so out of respect of the Navajo tradition of their Blessingway, I use the term Mother's Blessing.

 

A Mother's Blessing, is a wonderful alternative to a 'Baby Shower'. A time to create a sacred space for the pregnant person. The difference being that the focus is more on the mother than the baby, celebrating her pregnancy into becoming a mother and is less about materialistic things (although of course gifts can be shared).

A group of her closest friends and family come together to hold, support, cherish, nurture and honour her transformational journey into motherhood. Filling her cup so it overflows with love and confidence as she awaits her impending birth of her baby. The purpose is to connect heart to heart with the mother, lifting her up, and empowering her through natures energy and female collective power. Sharing stories and offering words of wisdom and support around preparing for birth and postpartum. It will also often include a small ceremony to mark the special occasion.

* Direct your friends and family to an online emporium with a focus on eco friendly, natural products and services dedicated to pregnant women and new mamas for gifting or if you'd prefer a charity you would like gifting to be funded to.

* Book the foods you require (fruit platter, crudites and dips, cake etc) 

* Organise and make sure the ceremony you have chosen runs smoothly around you, with music, wishing pot, flower crowns, body painting, the wool/ribbon circle etc (all suggestions in pack).
